How volunteers benefit our service

Volunteers are an integral and valued part of the Citizens Advice service. They have a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience and give their time freely to deliver and support the service.

In 2021/2022 our volunteers donated

£185,179 worth of time to

Citizens Advice Staffordshire North & Stoke

Involving volunteers benefits the service by:

  • adding value through different perspectives, experience, and skills.
  • operationally and strategically through trustee roles.
  • increasing sustainability of the service in the longer term by providing a pipeline of trained volunteers who might wish to move into paid roles.
  • increasing the capacity of other staff and volunteers to meet client need.

There are huge benefits to individuals and the community of having a volunteer-focused model. Not only does it add value to individual volunteers’ wellbeing, skills, and experience, all of which can contribute to individuals finding employment, but it also keeps the service rooted within the community.

It also provides inclusive and accessible volunteering opportunities to people from a range of different communities, backgrounds, life experiences, abilities, and ages.
